For 3D Printing to continue to grow as a mass production techology the cost of materials needs to decrease.

We know a bit about making filament. We have been making it for our 3D Printing farms for years. But now we are going to, very carefully, begin taking that production and turning it into a consumer product.

It is possible to make good quality filament for $10/kg but it will take a lot of small optimizations to get there. So we will keep pushing on the masterplan as long as it remains sustainable.
